9.Afteryoucompletetheassemblyandadjustments,ensurethatthereisno
contactbetweenthemachinecomponentswhiletherearwheelsmovefrom
steeringlocktolock.Adjustifnecessary.

Therearwheelspindlesmusttsnuglytotherearaxle.Excessivemovementof
thespindleintheaxlemightindicatethattherearaxlespindlebushings(Figure
311)arewornandmustbereplaced.
1.Loosen,butdonotremovethewheel-lugnutsthatattachtherearwheels
totheaxle.
2.Removetherearaxlefromthemachine;refertoRemovingtheRearAxle
(page6–27).
3.Removetherearwheelsfromtheaxle.
4.Removethecotterpinandslottedhexnutthatattachthetierodendtothe
steeringspindle.Separatethetierodendfromthespindle.
5.Removethecotterpinandslottedhexnutthatattachthesteeringcylinderball
jointtothesteeringspindle.Separatethesteeringcylinderfromthespindle.
6.Ifnecessary,removethewheelmotorfromthesteeringspindle;referto
RemovingtheRearWheelMotors(page4–126).
7.Removetheange-headscrew,spindlecap,andretainingringthatattach
thesteeringspindleintotheaxletube.Slidethespindleoutoftheaxletube
togetaccesstothespindlebushings.
8.Locateandretrievethethrustwasher(item20inFigure308)fromthe
steeringspindleshaft.
9.Useabushingremovaltooltoremovethe2spindlebushingsfromtheaxle
tube.
Note:Ensurethatyoudonotdamagetheboxoftheaxletube.
10.Cleantheinnersurfaceoftheaxletubetoremoveanydirtorunwanted
materials.
