TestProcedure
Note:Whenperformingtheliftcylinderinternalleakagetest,thecuttingdeck
shouldbeattachedtotheliftarmsandthecuttingdeckshouldbeinraiseposition.
1.ParkthemachineonalevelsurfacewiththePTOswitchoff,shutoffthe
engine,andsettheparkingbrake.
2.ReadallWarning,Cautions,andprecautionslistedatthebeginningofthis
section.
3.Ifnecessary,removethefrontwheeltogetaccesstotheliftcylinder;referto
RemovingtheWheels(page7–3).
4.Useajacktosupporttheraisedtheliftarmundertheliftcylinderthatisto
betested.Thiswillremovetheloadfromtheliftcylinderandrelievecylinder
hydraulicpressure.Leavethejackundertheliftarmforsupportandto
preventthearmfromlowering.
5.Cleantheareaaroundtheendofthehydraulichoseattherodendofthe
liftcylinderforthesupportedliftarm.Disconnectthehydraulichosefrom
theliftcylinderrodendtting.
IMPORTANT
Whencappingliftcylinderttingandhydraulichoseend,useasteel
capandplugtoensurethattheuidleakagewillnotoccur.Plastic
plugswillnotholdhydraulicpressurethatwillbedevelopedduring
thistestprocedure.
6.Placeasteelcapontheopenliftcylinderttingtosealtheliftcylinder.Also,
installasteelplugintheopenendofthedisconnectedhosetoprevent
leakageorcontamination.
7.Slowlylowerthejackandremoveitfromundertheliftarm.Thecuttingdeck
shouldsettleslightlyandthenbesupportedbythecappedliftcylinder.
8.Thecappedliftcylindershouldbeabletosupportthecuttingdecklong
enoughforthemachinetomovefromonecuttingareatoanotherduring
operation.
9.Iftheliftcylinderallowsthecuttingdecktolowertooquickly,replacethelift
cylinder;refertoLiftCylinder(page5–109).
10.Oncetheconditionoftheliftcylinderisdetermined,useajacktoraisethelift
armslightlytoremovetheloadfromthecylinder.
11.Supporttheliftarmwithjackstandstopreventitfromlowering.
12.Removethecapfromthecylinderttingandtheplugfromthehydraulichose.
13.Connectthehydraulichosetotheliftcylindertting.
14.Carefullyremovethejackfromundertheliftarm.
15.Ifremoved,installthewheelontothemachine;refertoInstallingtheWheels
(page7–4).
16.Starttheengineandoperatetheliftcylindersthroughseveralupanddown
cycles.Shutofftheengineandcheckforanyleakage.
17.Ifnecessary,repeatthesteps4through16forotherliftcylinders.
18.Checkandllthehydraulictankwiththecorrectquantityofnewhydraulic
uidbeforereturningthemachinetoservice.
