Brake Maintenance
Servicing the Brake
Before eac h use , c hec k the parking brak e for
proper operation.
Alw a ys set the parking brak e when y ou stop the
mac hine or lea v e it unattended. If the parking
brak e does not hold securely , adjust it.
Checking the Parking Brake
1. Mo v e the mac hine onto a lev el surface .
2. Diseng ag e the po w er tak e off (PTO) and stop
the engine .
3. Set the parking brak e .
Note: Setting the parking brak e should tak e a
reasonable amount of force . If it eng ag es too
hard or too easily , an adjustment is required.

Adjusting the Parking Brake
T he parking brak e lev er is on the right side of the
mac hine ( Figure 43 ). If the parking brak e does not
hold securely , adjust it.
1. Chec k the parking brak e before y ou adjust it;
refer to Chec king the P arking Brak e .
2. R elease the parking brak e; refer to R eleasing
the P arking Brak e .
3. R emo v e the spring hair pin from the lo w er
brak e link ( Figure 46 ).

4. R otate the lo w er brak e link y ok e cloc kwise
into the y ok e to tighten the parking brak e;
rotate the brak e link y ok e countercloc kwise
out of the y ok e out to loosen the parking brak e
( Figure 46 ).
Note: T here should be appro ximately
1/4 inc h clearance betw een the tire and the
flat bar when the parking brak e in the released
position ( Figure 46 ).
5. Secure the lo w er link to the lo w er brak e lev er
with the hair pin cotter and the clevis pin
( Figure 46 ).
6. Chec k the brak e operation ag ain; refer to
Chec king the P arking Brak e .
Belt Maintenance
Checking the Belts
Chec k all belts after ev er y 50 operating hours or
monthly , whic hev er occurs first.
Look for dir t, w ear , crac ks and signs of
o v erheating .
