Storage
CleaningandStorage
1.Disengagethepowertake-off(PTO),settheparking
brake,andturntheignitionkeytotheoffposition.
Removethekey.
2.Removegrassclippings,dirt,andgrimefromthe
externalpartsoftheentiremachine,especiallythe
engine.Cleandirtandchafffromtheoutsideofthe
enginecylinder-headnsandtheblowerhousing.
Important:Youcanwashthemachinewithmild
detergentandwater.Donotpressurewashthe
machine.Avoidexcessiveuseofwater,especially
neartheshift-leverplateandtheengine.
3.Checkthebrake;refertoCheckingtheParkingBrake
(page38).
4.Servicetheaircleaner;refertoServicingtheAir
Cleaner(page27).
5.Greasethemachine;refertoLubrication(page26).
6.Changethecrankcaseoil;refertoServicingtheEngine
Oil(page27).
7.Checkthetirepressure;refertoCheckingtheTire
Pressure(page37).
8.Forlong-termstorage:
A.Addstabilizer/conditioneradditivetofuelinthe
tank.
B.Runtheenginetodistributeconditionedfuel
throughthefuelsystem(5minutes).
C.Stoptheengine,allowittocool,anddrainthefuel
tank;refertoServicingtheFuelTank(page30),
orruntheengineuntilitstops.
D.Starttheengineandrunituntilitstops.Repeat
theprocess,withthechokeon,untiltheengine
willnotstart.
E.Disposeoffuelproperly.Recycleitasperlocal
codes.
Note:Donotstorestabilizer/conditioned
gasolineover90days.
9.Removethesparkplug(s)andcheckthecondition;
refertoServicingtheSparkPlug.Withthespark
plug(s)removedfromtheengine,pour2tablespoons
ofengineoilintothespark-plughole.Nowusethe
startertocranktheengineanddistributetheoilinside
thecylinder.Installthesparkplug(s).Donotinstallthe
wireonthesparkplug(s).
10.Checkandtightenallbolts,nuts,andscrews.Repairor
replaceanypartthatisdamagedorworn.
11.Paintallscratchedorbaremetalsurfaces.Paintis
availablefromyourAuthorizedServiceDealer.
12.Storethemachineinaclean,drygarageorstoragearea.
Removethekeyfromtheignitionswitchandkeepit
