yoketotightentheparkingbrake;rotatethebrake
linkyokecounterclockwiseoutoftheyokeoutto
loosentheparkingbrake(

Note:Thereshouldbeapproximately1/4inch
clearancebetweenthetireandtheatbarwhenthe
parkingbrakeinthereleasedposition(Figure48).
5.Securethelowerlinktothelowerbrakeleverwith
thehairpincotterandtheclevispin(Figure48).
6.Checkthebrakeoperationagain;refertoChecking
theParkingBrake.
BeltMaintenance
CheckingtheBelts
ServiceInterval:Every50hours/Monthly(whichever
comesrst)—Checkthebelts.
Checkbeltsforcracks,frayededges,burnmarks,wear,
signsofoverheatingoranyotherdamage.Replace
damagedbelts.
ReplacingtheMowerBelt
Important:Thebrakeneedstobeadjustedwhen
thebelttensionorthebrakelinkageisadjusted.
1.Disengagethebladecontrol(PTO)leverandsetthe
parkingbrakes.
2.Stoptheengineandwaitforallmovingpartstostop
beforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
3.Removetheknobsandthebeltcoveronthemower.
4.Removetheidlerpulleyandthewornbelt.
5.Installthenewmowerbelt.
6.Installtheidlerpulley.
7.Engagethebladecontrol(PTO)leverandcheck
thebelttension.RefertoAdjustingtheMowerBelt
Tension.
Note:Thepropermowerbelttensionis10-15lbf.
(44-67N)withthebeltdeected1/2inch(13mm)
halfwaybetweenthepulleys(Figure52orFigure53).
