Operation
Note:Determinetheleftandrightsidesofthe
machinefromthenormaloperatingposition.
Thismachineproducessoundlevelsinexcess
of85dBAattheoperator’searandcancause
hearinglossthroughextendedperiodsof
exposure.
Wearhearingprotectionwhenoperatingthis
machine.
Ifyouleavethekeyintheignitionswitch,
someonecouldaccidentlystarttheengineand
seriouslyinjureyouorotherbystanders.
Removethekeyfromtheignitionbeforeyoudo
anymaintenance.
CheckingtheEngineOilLevel
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
Theengineisshippedwithoilinthecrankcase;
however,theoillevelmustbecheckedbeforeandafter
theengineisrststarted.
Thecrankcasecapacityisapproximately8qt.(7.6l)
withthelter.
Usehigh-qualityengineoilthatmeetsthefollowing
specications:
APIClassicationLevelRequired:CH-4,CI-4or
higher.
Preferredoil:SAE15W-40(above0°F)
Alternateoil:SAE10W-30or5W-30(all
temperatures)
Note:ToroPremiumEngineoilisavailable
fromyourdistributorineither15W-40or10W-30
viscosity.Seethepartscatalogforpartnumbers.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface.
2.Unlocktheenginecoverlatchesandopenthe
enginecover.
3.Removethedipstick,wipeitclean,installthe
dipstickintothetube,andpullitoutagain.
TheoillevelshouldbeuptotheFULLmark
(Figure13).

cap(Figure14)andaddoiluntilthelevelreaches
theFULLmark.Donotoverll.
