CoolingSystemSafety
Swallowingenginecoolantcancausepoisoning;
keepoutofreachfromchildrenandpets.
Dischargeofhot,pressurizedcoolantortouching
ahotradiatorandsurroundingpartscancause
severeburns.
Alwaysallowtheenginetocoolatleast15
minutesbeforeremovingtheradiatorcap.
Usearagwhenopeningtheradiatorcap,and
openthecapslowlytoallowsteamtoescape.
Donotoperatethemachinewithoutthecovers
inplace.
Keepyourngers,handsandclothingclearof
rotatingfananddrivebelt.
CheckingtheCooling
System
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily—Check
thelevelofcoolantintheexpansion
tankandcleandebrisoffthescreen,
oilcooler,andfrontoftheradiator.
Thecoolingsystemislledwitha50/50solutionof
waterandpermanentethyleneglycolantifreeze.The
capacityofthecoolingsystemis9.5L(10USqt).
DANGER
Therotatingfansanddrivebeltscancause
personalinjury.
Donotoperatethemachinewithoutthe
guardsinplace.
Keepyourngers,hands,andclothing
clearoftherotatingfananddrivebelt.
Shutofftheengineandremovethekey
beforeperformingmaintenance.
1.Checkthelevelofcoolantintheexpansiontank
(Figure85).
Note:Thecoolantlevelshouldbebetweenthe
marksonthesideofthetank.

Every100hours—Inspectthecoolingsystem
hoses.
Every2years—Flushandreplacethecooling
systemuid.
Removedebrisfromthescreenandradiator/oilcooler
daily(cleanmorefrequentlyindirtyconditions).
1.TurnthekeyintheignitionswitchtotheOFF
positionandremovethekey.
2.Thoroughlycleanalldebrisoutoftheengine
area.
3.Unlatchtheclampandpivotopentherear
screen(Figure86).
