TheSidewinderoffersuptoamaximumof13
inches(33cm)ofoverhang,allowingyoutotrim
closertotheedgeofsandtrapsandotherobstacles,
whileatthesametimekeepingthetractortiresas
farawayfromtheedgeoftrapsorwaterhazards
aspossible.
Ifanobstacleisintheway,shiftthecuttingunits
toeasilymowaroundit.
Whentransportingthemachinefromonework
areatoanother,raisethecuttingunitstothefully
upposition,movethemow/transportslidetothe
lefttotransport,andplacethethrottleintheFast
position.
MowingTechniques
Tobegincutting,engagethecuttingunits,then
approachthemowingareaslowly.Oncethefront
cuttingunitsareoverthemowingarea,lowerthe
cuttingunits.
Toachievetheprofessionalstraight-linecutand
stripingthatisdesirableforsomeapplications,nd
atreeorotherobjectinthedistanceanddrive
straighttowardit.
Assoonasthefrontcuttingunitsreachtheedgeof
themowingarea,liftthecuttingunitsandperform
ateardropshapedturntoquicklylineyouupfor
yournextpass.
Tomowaroundbunkers,ponds,orothercontours
easily,usetheSidewinderandmovethecontrol
leverleftorright,dependingonyourmowing
application.Thecuttingunitscanalsobeshifted
tovarytiretracking.
Thecuttingunitstendtothrowgrasstotheleft
sideofthemachine.Iftrimmingaroundbunkers,it
isbesttomowinaclockwisedirectiontoprevent
throwingclippingsintothebunker.
Thecuttingunitscanbeequippedwithbolt-in
mulchingbafes.Themulchingbafesperform
wellwhenturfismaintainedonaregularschedule
toavoidremovingmorethan1inch(25mm)of
growthpercutting.Whentoomuchgrowthis
cutwiththemulchingbafesinstalled,after-cut
appearancemaydeteriorateandtheobservedpower
tocuttheturfincreases.Themulchingbafesalso
performwellforshreddingleavesinthefallofthe
year.
MowWhenGrassisDry
Moweitherinthelatemorningtoavoidthedew,which
causesgrassclumping,orinlateafternoontoavoidthe
damagethatcanbecausedbydirectsunlightonthe
sensitive,freshlymowedgrass.
SelecttheProperHeight-of-CutSetting
toSuitConditions
Removeapproximatelyoneinchornomorethan1/3of
thegrassbladewhencutting.Inexceptionallylushand
densegrassyoumayhavetoraiseyourheight–of–cut
settinganothernotch.
AlwaysStartMowingwithSharp
Blades
Asharpbladecutscleanlyandwithouttearingor
shreddingthegrassbladeslikeadullblade.Tearingand
shreddingcausesthegrasstoturnbrownattheedges
whichimpairsgrowthandincreasessusceptibilityto
diseases.Makesurebladeisingoodconditionand
afullsailispresent.
CheckConditionofcuttingunit
Makesurecuttingchambersareingoodcondition.
Straightenanybendsinchambercomponentstoassure
correctbladetip/chamberclearance.
AfterMowing
Atthecompletionofmowingoperation,thoroughly
washthemachinewithagardenhosewithouta
nozzlesothatexcessivewaterpressurewillnotcause
contaminationanddamagetothesealsandbearings.
Makesurethattheradiatorandoilcoolerarekept
freeofdirtorgrassclippings.Aftercleaning,itis
recommendedthatthemachinebeinspectedfor
possiblehydraulicuidleaks,damageorweartothe
hydraulicandmechanicalcomponents,andthecutting
unitbladescheckedforsharpness.
Important:Afterwashingthemachine,movethe
Sidewindermechanismfromlefttorightseveral
timestoremovewaterbetweenthebearingblocks
andcrosstube.
