Storage
StoringtheBattery
Ifthemachinewillbestoredmorethan30days,remove
thebatteryandchargeitfully.Storethebatteryinacool
atmospheretoavoidquickdeteriorationofthechargeinthe
battery.Topreventthebatteryfromfreezing,makesure
thatitisfullycharged.Thespecicgravityofafullycharged
batteryis1.265–1.299.
PreparationforSeasonal
Storage
Followtheseproceduresanytimeyouwillbestoringthe
machineformorethan30days.
Engine
1.Draintheengineoilfromtheoilpanandreplacethe
drainplug.
2.Removeanddiscardtheoillter.Installanewoillter.
3.Relltheoilpanwith3.3L(3.5USqt)ofmotoroil.
4.Starttheengineandrunitatidlespeedfor
approximately2minutes.
5.Stoptheengine.
6.Forstorageover30days,preparethefuelsystemas
follows:
Addapetroleumbasedstabilizer/conditionerto
fuelinthetank.
Followthemixinginstructionsfromstabilizer
manufacturer.Donotuseanalcoholbased
stabilizer(ethanolormethanol).
Note:Afuelstabilizer/conditionerismost
effectivewhenmixedwithfreshgasolineandused
atalltimes.
Runtheenginetodistributeconditionedfuel
throughthefuelsystemforapproximately5
minutes.
Stoptheengine,allowittocool,anddrainthefuel
tank.
Restarttheengineandrunituntilitstops.
Startandruntheengineuntilitwillnotstartagain.
Disposeoffuelproperly.Recycleasperlocalcodes
Important:Donotstore
stabilizer/conditionedgasolineover90
days
7.Removethesparkplugsandchecktheircondition;
refertoReplacingtheSparkPlugs(page37).
8.Withthesparkplugsremovedfromtheengine,pour2
tablespoonsofengineoilintothesparkplughole.
9.Usethestartertocranktheengineanddistributethe
oilinsidethecylinder.
10.Installthesparkplugsandtightentorecommended
torque;refertoReplacingtheSparkPlugs(page37).
Note:Donotinstallthewiresonthesparkplugs.
11.Checkanti-freezeprotectionandaddasneededfor
expectedminimumtemperatureinyourarea.
12.Secureallfuelsystemttings.
13.Thoroughlycleanandservicetheaircleanerassembly.
14.Sealtheaircleanerinletandtheexhaustoutletwith
weatherprooftape.
