ServicingtheCutterBlade
RemovingtheCutterBlade
Theblademustbereplacedifasolidobjectishit,
thebladeisoutofbalance,orifthebladeisbent.
AlwaysusegenuineT ororeplacementbladestobe
sureofsafetyandoptimumperformance.Neveruse
replacementbladesmadebyothermanufacturers
becausetheycouldbedangerous.
1.Raisethecuttingdecktothehighestposition,
shuttheengineoff,andengagetheparking
brake.Blockthecuttingdecktopreventitfrom
fallingaccidentally.
2.Grasptheendofthebladeusingaragorthickly
paddedglove.Removethebladebolt,anti-scalp
cup,andbladefromthespindleshaft(Figure
71).

•Inspectthebladeperiodicallyforwear
ordamage.
•Neverweldabrokenorcrackedblade.
•Alwaysreplaceawornordamaged
blade.
InspectingandSharpeningthe
Blade
1.Raisethecuttingdecktothehighestposition,
shuttheengineoff,andengagetheparking
brake.Blockthecuttingdecktopreventitfrom
fallingaccidentally.
2.Examinethecuttingendsofthebladecarefully,
especiallywheretheatandcurvedpartsof
theblademeet(Figure72).Sincesandand
abrasivematerialcanwearawaythemetalthat
connectstheatandcurvedpartsoftheblade,
checkthebladebeforeusingthemachine.If
wearisnoticed(Figure72),replacetheblade;
refertoRemovingtheCutterBlade.
DANGER
Ifthebladeisallowedtowear,aslot
willformbetweenthesailandatpart
oftheblade(Figure72).Eventuallya
pieceoftheblademaybreakoffandbe
thrownfromunderthehousing,possibly
resultinginseriousinjurytoyourselfor
bystanders.
•Inspectthebladeperiodicallyforwear
ordamage.
•Alwaysreplaceawornordamaged
blade.
