CheckingtheEngineOilLevel
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface.
2.DisengagethePTO,turntheignitionkeytooff,and
removethekey.
3.Waitforallmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingpositionandthensettheparkingbrakes.
4.Cleanaroundtheoildipstick(Figure20)sothatdirt
cannotfallintothellerholeanddamagetheengine.

5.Unscrewtheoildipstickandwipetheendclean

6.Slidetheoildipstickfullyintothellertube,butdo
notthreadontotube(Figure20).
7.Pullthedipstickoutandlookattheend.Iftheoil
levelislow,slowlypouronlyenoughoilintotheller
tubetoraisetheleveltotheFullmark.
Important:Donotoverllthecrankcasewith
oilandruntheengine;enginedamagecan
result.
ChangingtheOil
1.Starttheengineandletitrunveminutes.This
warmstheoilsoitdrainsbetter.
2.Parkthemachinesothatthedrainsideisslightly
lowerthantheoppositesidetoassuretheoildrains
completely.
3.DisengagethePTOandsettheparkingbrake.
4.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforall
movingpartstostopbeforeleavingtheoperating
position.
5.Slidethedrainhoseovertheoildrainvalve.
6.Placeapanbelowthedrainhose.Rotateoildrain
valvetoallowoiltodrain(Figure21).
7.Whenoilhasdrainedcompletely,closethedrain
valve.
8.Removethedrainhose(Figure21).
Note:Disposeoftheusedoilatarecyclingcenter.
