2.Gripeachcuttingunitandcheckforexcessive
playfromsidetosideorupanddown.
CheckingforRotor
Vibration
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily—Checkfor
anyunusualvibrationoftherotor.
Tocheckforanyunusualvibrationoftherotor,runthe
cuttingunitatfull-enginespeed.
1.Starttheengineandmovethemachinetoa
level,openareaawayfrombystanders.
2.Lowerthecuttingunitandengagetheparking
brake.
3.EngagethePTOandruntheengineatfull
throttlewhilewatchingforanyunusualrotor
vibration.
4.Iftherotorvibrationisunusual,performthe
following:
A.Setthethrottletoidle,shutoffthePTO,and
raisethecuttingunit.
B.Shutofftheengine,removethekey,and
waitforallmovingpartstostop.
C.Checkthecuttingunitforthefollowing:
•Debrispreventingtherotororblades
operatingcorrectlyandremoveany
blockages;refertoClearingaBlocked
Rotor(page27).
•Adamagedrotororwornrotorbearings;
refertoCheckingtheRotorBearings
(page53).
•Missing,damaged,unbalanced,or
excessivelywornblades;referto
SharpeningtheBlades(page52)and
ReplacingtheBlades(page54).
Important:Allopposingbladepairs
musthaveasimilaramountofwear;
unbalancedbladesmayaffectthe
balanceoftherotor.
Important:Ifyoucannotcorrectthecause
ofunusualrotorvibration,contactyour
authorizedTorodistributor.

Bearings
ServiceInterval:Every50hours—Checkfor
excessiveplayintherotorbearings.
Important:Weargloveswhencheckingtherotor
bearings.
1.Movethemachineontoalevelsurfaceand
engagetheparkingbrake.
2.Raisecuttingunit,shutofftheengine,remove
thekey,andwaitforallmovingpartstostop.
3.Supportthecuttingunitwithjackstands.
4.Griptherotorateachendandcheckfor
excessiveendplay;iftherotorhasexcessend
play,itmayneedtobereplaced;contactyour
authorizedT orodistributor.
CheckingtheRear-Roller
BearingAdjustment
ServiceInterval:Every50hours
Important:Keeptherollerbearingsonthecutting
unitsingoodadjustmenttoensuremaximum
workinglife.Excessiveroller-endplaycauses
prematurebearingdamage.
1.Griptherollerandmovefromsidetosideand
upanddown.
2.Ifthereisexcessivemovement,carefullytighten
thenutsateachendoftherollerwiththewrench
justenoughtoremoveanyendplay(Figure82).
Note:Therollershouldstillrotatefreelyafter
adjustment.Overtighteningthenutscouldlead
toprematurebearingdamage.

bothendsoftheroller.
