Pre-MaintenanceSafety
•Keepallpartsofthemachineingoodworking
conditionandallhardwaretightened,especially
blade-attachmenthardware.Replaceallwornor
damageddecals.
•Neverallowuntrainedpersonneltoservicethe
machine.
•Beforeadjusting,cleaning,orrepairingthe
machine,dothefollowing:
1.Movethemachinetolevelground.
2.Disengagethedrives.
3.Lowerthecuttingunits.
4.MovethetractionpedaltotheNEUTRAL
position.
5.Engagetheparkingbrake.
6.MovethethrottleswitchtotheLOW-IDLE
position.
7.Shutofftheengineandremovethekey.
8.Waitforallmovingpartstostop.
•Wheneveryouparkorstorethemachine,orleave
itunattended,lowerthecuttingunitsunlessyou
useapositivemechanicallock.
•Ifpossible,donotperformmaintenanceonthe
machinewhiletheengineisrunning.Ifyoumust
runtheenginetoperformmaintenanceonthe
machine,keepyourhands,feet,otherbodyparts,
andclothingawayfromallmovingparts,the
mower-dischargearea,andtheundersideofthe
mowers.
•Donottouchpartsofthemachineoranattachment
thatmaybehotfromoperation.Allowtheparts
tocoolbeforeattemptingtomaintain,adjust,or
servicethem.
•Usejackstandstosupportthemachineand/orits
componentswhenrequired.
•Carefullyreleasepressurefromcomponentswith
storedenergy.
•Ifyourmachinerequiresmajorrepairsorifyou
desireassistance,contactanAuthorizedT oro
Distributor.
•UseonlygenuineTororeplacementpartsand
accessories.Replacementpartsandaccessories
madebyothermanufacturerscouldbedangerous,
andsuchusecouldvoidtheproductwarranty.
PreparingtheMachinefor
Maintenance
1.EnsurethatthePTOisdisengaged.
2.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface.
3.Settheparkingbrake.
4.Lowerthemowerdeck(s)ifnecessary.
5.Shutofftheengineandwaitforallmovingparts
tostop.
6.TurntheignitionkeytotheSTOPpositionand
removeit.
7.Allowmachinecomponentstocoolbefore
performingmaintenance.
RemovingtheHood
1.Unlatchandraisethehood.
2.Removethehairpincottersecuringthehood
pivottothemountingbrackets(Figure60).
