1.Parkmachineonalevelsurface,lowercuttingdecks,stopengineand
removekeyfromtheignitionswitch.
2.DraintheoilfromthebrakeassemblyandthePlanetarydrive;refertothe
tractionunitOperator’sManual.
CAUTION
Whenremovingfrontwheel,usecorrectjacksandsupports.Make
suremachineisparkedonasolid,levelsurfacesuchasaconcrete
oor.Priortoraisingmachine,removeanyattachmentsthatmay
interferewiththesafeandproperraisingofthemachine.Always
chockorblockwheels.Usejackstandstosupporttheraised
machine.Ifthemachineisnotproperlysupportedbyjackstands,
themachinemaymoveorfall,whichmayresultinpersonalinjury.
3.Chockrearwheelsandjackupfrontofmachine(seeJackingInstructions
(page1–7)).Supportmachinewithjackstands.
4.Removefrontwheelassembly.
Note:Thewheelmotorandbrakeassemblyfastenersthreadintothe
planetaryhousing,andmustberemovedpriortoremovingtheplanetary
drivefromthemachine.
5.Removehydraulicwheelmotorfasteners.
6.Removebrakeassemblyfasteners.
7.Supportplanetaryassemblytopreventitfromfalling.Loosenandremovesix
(6)angeheadscrewsthatsecureplanetaryassemblytoframe.Remove
planetaryassemblyfrommachine.
8.Removeanddiscardgasket(item18).Makesurethatallgasketmaterialand
sealantisremovedfromboththebrakeandtheplanetaryassembly.
Installation(Figure251)
1.Positionplanetaryassemblytomachinemakingsuretoengagesplined
brakeshaftwithplanetarydriveshaft.Secureplanetaryassemblytoframe
withsix(6)angeheadscrews.
•ForOPH−2seriesplanetarydrives:tightenscrewsto81N·m(60ft−lb).
•ForVA02seriesplanetarydrives:tightenscrewsfrom101to115N·m
(75to85ft−lb).
2.Applygasketsealant(Loctite#2orequivalent)tosealingsurfacesofnew
gasket(item18).Aligngasketandsecurebrakeassemblytoplanetary(see
BrakeAssembly(page7–4)).
•ForOPH−2seriesplanetarydrives:tightenscrewsto81N·m(60ft−lb).
•ForVA02seriesplanetarydrives:tightenscrewsfrom101to115N·m
(75to85ft−lb).
3.MakesurewheelmotorO−ring(item4)isinpositionandsecurewheelmotor
toplanetarywithtwo(2)capscrewsandatwashers.
•ForOPH−2seriesplanetarydrives:tightenscrewsfrom81N·m(60ft−lb).
•ForVA02seriesplanetarydrives:tightenscrewsfrom101to115N·m
(75to85ft−lb).
