Note:Removethebladesandsharpenthem
onagrinder.Aftersharpeningthecuttingedges,
installthebladewiththeanti-scalpcupand
bladebolt;refertoRemovingandInstallingthe
Cutting-UnitBlade(s)(page70).
CorrectingaCuttingUnit
Mismatch
Whenthereismismatchbetweenthebladesona
singlecuttingunit,thegrassappearsstreakedwhenit
iscut.Youcancorrectthisproblembyensuringthat
thebladesarestraight.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface.
2.Raisetheheightofcuttothehighestposition;
refertoAdjustingtheHeightofCut(page25).
3.Lowerthecuttingunitontotheatsurfaceand
removethecoversfromthetopofthecutting
unit.
4.Loosentheangenutthatsecurestheidler
pulleytoreleasethebelttension.
5.Rotatethebladesuntiltheendsfaceforward
andrearwardandmeasurefromtheoortothe
fronttipofthecuttingedge.Rememberthis
dimension.
6.Rotatethesamebladesothattheoppositeend
isforward,andmeasureagain.Thedifference
betweenthedimensionsmustnotexceed3mm
(1/8inch).Ifthedimensionexceeds3mm(1/8
inch),replacetheblade,asitisbent.Measure
alltheblades.
7.Comparethemeasurementsoftheouterblades
withthecenterblade.
Note:Thecenterblademustnotbemorethan
10mm(3/8inch)lowerthantheouterblades.If
thecenterbladeismorethan10mm(3/8inch)
lowerthantheouterblades,proceedtostep8
andaddshimsbetweenthespindlehousingand
thebottomofthecuttingunit.
8.Removethebolts,atwashers,lockwashers,
andnutsfromtheouterspindleinthearea
whereyoumustaddtheshims.
Note:T oraiseorlowertheblade,addashim
(PartNo.3256-24)betweenthespindlehousing
andthebottomofthecuttingunit.Continue
tocheckthealignmentofthebladesandadd
shimsuntilthetipsofthebladesarewithinthe
requireddimension.
Important:Donotusemorethan3shimsat
any1holelocation.Usedecreasingnumbers
ofshimsinadjacentholesifmorethan1
shimisaddedtoany1holelocation.
9.Adjusttheidlerpulleyandinstallthebeltcovers.

CleaningtheCab
Important:Usecarearoundthecabsealsand
lights(Figure92).Ifyouareusingapressure
washer,keepthewasherwandatleast0.6m(2ft)
awayfromthemachine.Donotusethepressure
washerdirectlyonthecabsealsandlightsor
undertherearoverhang.
