DieselParticulateFilter
Thedieselparticulatelter(DPF)usedonYanmarTier4compliantenginesis
designedtobreakdownthehazardouselementsintheexhaustandpreventthe
dischargeofunburntfueloroilknownasparticulatematterorsoot.TheDPF
includesaDieselOxidationCatalyst(DOC),aSootFilter(SF),2temperature
sensors,andapressuredifferentialsensor.Additionalinformationregardingthe
DieselParticulateFilter(DPF)canbefoundintheYanmarOperationManual–
IndustrialEnginesTNVsuppliedwithyourmachine.
Regeneration
TheengineECUmonitorstheexhaustpressurebeforeandafterthesootlter
intheDPFtodetermineifsootisaccumulating.Ifsootisaccumulatingduring
normalengineoperation,thepressuredifferentialwillincrease.Theincreased
pressuredifferentialsignalwillresultintheECUcommandingengineoperation
tobeginaprocesscalledRegeneration.Regenerationincreasestheexhaust
temperatureandthelengthoftimetheengineoperatesatahigherthannormal
exhausttemperature,incineratingthebuiltupsootandturningitintoash.The
differenttypesofregenerationusedarelistedinorderbasedontheamountof
particulatematterinthesootlter(leasttomost).
