CleaningandStorage
1.Disengagethepowertake-off(PTO),setthe
parkingbrake,turntheignitionkeytotheOff
position,andremovethekey.
2.Removegrassclippings,dirt,andgrimefromthe
externalpartsoftheentiremachine,especially
theengine.Cleandirtandchafffromtheoutside
oftheenginecylinder-headnsandtheblower
housing.
Important:Youcanwashthemachine
withmilddetergentandwater.Donot
pressure-washthemachine.Avoid
excessiveuseofwater,especiallynearthe
shift-leverplateandtheengine.
3.Checkthebrake;refertoCheckingtheBrakes
(page32).
4.Servicetheaircleaner;refertoServicingtheAir
Cleaner(page25).
5.Greasethemachine;refertoLubricatingthe
Machine(page24).
6.Changethecrankcaseoil;refertoChangingthe
EngineOil(page26).
7.Checkthetirepressure;refertoCheckingthe
TirePressure(page30).
8.Forlong-termstorage:
A.Addstabilizer/conditioneradditivetofuelin
thetank.
B.Runtheenginetodistributeconditionedfuel
throughthefuelsystem(5minutes).
C.Stoptheengine,allowittocool,anddrain
thefueltank;refertoDrainingtheFuelTank
(page28),orruntheengineuntilitstops.
D.Starttheengineandrunituntilitstops.
Repeattheprocess,withthechokeon,until
theenginewillnotstart.
E.Disposeoffuelproperly.Recycleit
accordingtolocalcodes.
Note:Donotstorestabilizer/conditioned
gasolineover90days.
9.Removeandchecktheconditionofthespark
plug(s);refertoServicingtheSparkPlugs(page
27).
10.Withthesparkplug(s)removedfromthe
engine,pour2tablespoonsofengineoilintothe
spark-plughole.
11.Usethestartertocranktheengineanddistribute
theoilinsidethecylinder.
12.Installthesparkplug(s),butdonotinstallthe
wireonthesparkplug(s).
13.Checkandtightenallbolts,nuts,andscrews.
Repairorreplaceanypartthatisdamagedor
worn.
14.Paintallscratchedorbaremetalsurfaceswith
paintavailablefromyourAuthorizedService
Dealer.
15.Storethemachineinaclean,drygarageor
storagearea.Removethekeyfromtheignition
switchandkeepitinamemorableplace.Cover
themachinetoprotectitandkeepitclean.
