TestingtheDualTemperatureSwitch
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowertheimplement,shutoffthe
engine,settheparkingbrake,andremovethekeyfromthekeyswitch.Open
thehoodtogetaccesstotheengine.
DANGER
Iftheradiatororengineishot,pressurizedhotcoolantcanescape
andcauseburns.
Donotopentheradiatorcapordraintheradiatorwhenthecoolant
ishot.Ensurethattheengineiscoolbeforeremovingthedual
temperatureswitchfromtheengine.
2.Lowerthecoolantlevelintheengineandremovethedualtemperature
switchfromtheengine.
3.Puttheendoftheswitchinacontainerofoilwithathermometerandthen
slowlyheattheoil(Figure170).
CAUTION
Theoilishotandcouldcausepersonalinjuryorre.

4.Checktheresistanceoftheswitchwithamultimeter(ohmssetting)astheoil
temperatureincreases.
A.Thehigh-temperaturewarningcircuitisnormallyopenandclosesat101°
to108°C(214°to226°F).
B.Thehigh-temperatureshutdowncircuitisnormallyopenandclosesat
112°to119°C(234°to246°F).
5.Iftheswitchdoesnotmeeteitherofthespecications,replacetheswitch.
6.Afteryoucompletethetesting,installthetemperatureswitchtotheengine
housing,dothefollowingsteps:
A.Cleanthethreadsofthehousingandswitch.Applythreadsealantto
thethreadsoftheswitch.
