6.Removethejackstandsfromunderthecuttingdeck(orimplement).
Note:Thecuttingdeck(orimplement)shouldsettleslightlyandthenbe
supportedbythecappedliftcylinder.
7.Placeapieceoftapeontheliftcylinderrodneartherodend(Figure52).
Measureandrecordthedistancefromtheliftcylindercollartothetape
location.
8.Keepthemachineparkedfor4hoursandmonitortheliftcylinder.Theweight
ofthecuttingdeck(orimplement)cancausetheliftcylindertogradually
retract.Usethechangeindistancefromtheliftcylindercollartothelocation
ofthetapetodeterminetheliftcylinderrodmovement.
A.Ifthecuttingdeck(orimplement)isstillsuspendedafter4hoursand
liftcylinderrodmovementislessthan6.4mm(1/4inch),considerthat
theliftcylinderisingoodcondition.
Note:Aliftcylinderingood,usableconditionwillshowminimalrod
movement.
B.Iftherodmovementismorethan6.4mm(1/4inch)after4hours,
indicatesaliftcylinderwithinternalsealdamageorexcessiveinternal
wear.Replaceorrepairtheliftcylinder;refertoLiftCylinder(page4–124)
andServicingtheLiftCylinder(page4–126).
9.Oncetheliftcylinderconditionisdetermined,useajacktoraisebothsides
ofthecuttingdeck(orimplement)slightlywhichremovestheloadfromthe
liftcylinder.
10.Supportbothsidesofthecuttingdeck(orimplement)withjackstands.
11.Removethecapfromthecylinderttingandtheplugfromthehydraulichose.
12.Connectthehydraulichosetotheliftcylindertting.
13.Removethetapefromtheliftcylinderrod.
14.Removethejackstandsfromthecuttingdeck(orimplement).
15.Starttheengineandoperatetheliftcylinderthroughseveralraiseandlower
cycles.Shutofftheengineandcheckforanyleakage.
16.Checkthehydraulic-uidlevelinthehydraulicreservoir.
