CleaningandStorage
1.Disengagethepowertakeoff(PTO),settheparking
brake,andturntheignitionkeytooff.Removethekey.
2.Removegrassclippings,dirt,andgrimefromthe
externalpartsoftheentiremachine,especiallythe
engine.Cleandirtandchafffromtheoutsideofthe
engine'scylinderheadnsandblowerhousing.
Important:Youcanwashthemachinewithmild
detergentandwater.Donotpressurewashthe
machine.Avoidexcessiveuseofwater,especially
neartheshiftleverplate,andengine.
3.Checkthebrake;refertoServicingtheBrakein
BrakeMaintenance(page30).
4.Servicetheaircleaner;refertoServicingtheAir
Cleaner.
5.Greasethemachine;refertoGreasingandLubrication
in
Lubrication(page23).
6.Changethecrankcaseoil;refertoServicingtheEngine
in.
7.Checkthetirepressure;refertoCheckingtheTire
PressureinDriveSystemMaintenance(page29).
8.Forlong-termstorage:
A.Addstabilizer/conditioneradditivetofuelinthe
tank.
B.Runenginetodistributeconditionedfuelthrough
thefuelsystem(5minutes).
C.Stopengine,allowtocoolanddrainthefuel
tank;refertoServicingtheFuelTankin
ServicingtheFuelSystem(page27),oroperate
engineuntilitstops.
D.Restartengineandrununtilitstops.Repeat,on
Chokeuntilenginewillnotrestart.
E.Disposeoffuelproperly.Recycleasperlocal
codes.
Note:Donotstorestabilizer/conditioned
gasolineover90days.
9.Removethesparkplug(s)andcheckitscondition;refer
toServicingtheSparkPlug.Withthesparkplug(s)
removedfromtheengine,pourtwotablespoonsof
engineoilintothesparkplughole.Nowusethestarter
tocranktheengineanddistributetheoilinsidethe
cylinder.Installthesparkplug(s).Donotinstallthe
wireonthesparkplug(s).
10.Checkandtightenallbolts,nuts,andscrews.Repairor
replaceanypartthatisdamagedordefective.
11.Paintallscratchedorbaremetalsurfaces.Paintis
availablefromyourAuthorizedServiceDealer.
12.Storethemachineinaclean,drygarageorstoragearea.
Removethekeyfromtheignitionswitchandkeepit
inamemorableplace.Coverthemachinetoprotect
itandkeepitclean.
