vaporsarehighlyammableandexplosive.A
reorexplosionfromfuelcanburnyouand
othersandcancausepropertydamage.
Useafunnelandllthefueltankoutdoors,
inanopenarea,whentheengineisoffand
iscold.Wipeupanyfuelthatspills.
Donotllthefueltankcompletelyfull.Add
fueltothefueltankuntilthelevelis1/4to
1/2inch(6to13mm)belowthebottomof
thellerneck.Thisemptyspaceinthetank
allowsthefueltoexpand.
Neversmokewhenhandlingfuel,andstay
awayfromanopenameorwherefuel
fumesmaybeignitedbyaspark.
Storefuelinaclean,sealed,safety-approved
container.

soitcannotfallaccidentally.Usingacleanrag,clean
areaaroundfueltankcap(Figure28).

Cleandebrisoffscreenandradiator/oilcoolerdaily,
moreoftenifconditionsareextremelydustyanddirty.
Thecoolingsystemislledwitha50/50solution
ofwaterandpermanentethyleneglycolanti–freeze.
Checklevelofcoolantinexpansiontankatbeginning
ofeachdaybeforestartingtheengine.Capacityof
coolingsystemis6quarts(5.6l).
Ifenginehasbeenrunning,pressurized
hotcoolantcanescapewhenradiatorcapis
removedandcauseburns.

CheckingtheHydraulicSystemFluid
Thefrontaxlehousingactsasthereservoirforthe
system.Thetransmissionandaxlehousingareshipped
fromthefactorywithapproximately5quarts(4.7l)of
highqualityhydraulicuid.However,checkuidlevel
beforeengineisrststartedanddailythereafter.

bythehydraulicsystemtransmissionchargepump.
Coldweatherstart-upmayresultin“stiffoperationof
thesteeringuntilthehydraulicsystemhaswarmedup.
