TestingtheGlowPlugSystem
Thisisafast,simpletestthathelpstodeterminetheintegrityandoperationof
theGroundsmasterglowplugsystem.Performthistestwhenyoundhard
starting(coldengine)onadieselengineequippedwithaglowplugsystem.
Tool(s)required:Digitalmultimeterand/orinductiveAmmeter(AC/DCCurrent
Transducer).
Testinstructions:Properlyconnecttheammetertothedigitalmultimeter(referto
themanufacturersinstructions).Setthemultimetertothecorrectscale.With
thekeyswitchintheOFFposition,placetheammeterpickuparoundthemain
glowplugpowersupplywireandreadthemeterpriortoactivatingtheglowplug
system.Adjustthemetertoreadzero(ifapplicable).Activatetheglowplug
systemandrecordthemultimeterresults.
TheglowplugsystemoftheGroundsmaster7210machineshouldhavea
readingofapproximately21A.
CheckingtheOperationoftheInterlockSwitches
CAUTION
Checktheoperationoftheinterlockswitchesdailyforproper
operation.
Replaceanymalfunctioningswitchesbeforeoperatingthemachine.
TheGroundsmaster7210machineisequippedwithaStandardControlModule
(SCM)whichmonitorstheinterlockswitchoperation.Theinformationonthe
SCMisdescribedinTestingtheElectricalComponents(page5–23).T esting
oftheindividualinterlockswitchesisincludedintheTestingtheElectrical
Components(page5–23).
Note:Themachineisequippedwithaninterlockswitchontheparkingbrake.
TheengineshutsoffifthetractioncontrolleversaremovedfromtheNEUTRAL
LOCKpositionwiththeparkingbrakeengaged.
1.Ensurethatallthebystandersareawayfromtheareaofoperation.Keep
yourhandsandfeetawayfromthecuttingdeck(orimplement).
2.Withtheoperatorintheseat,theenginemustnotstartwitheitherthePTO
switchintheONpositionorthetractioncontrolleversmovedfromthe
NEUTRALLOCKposition.Correcttheproblemifthemachineisnotoperating
properly.
