InspectingtheGearPump
CAUTION
Useeyeprotectionsuchasgoggleswhenusingcompressedair.
1.Cleanallthepumppartswithsolventanddrythemwithcompressedair.
2.Inspectthedrivegear,idlergear,andbearingblocksforthefollowing.If
damageisfound,thepumpreplacementisnecessary.

A.Gearshaftsmustbefreefromroughsurfacesandexcessivewearat
thebushingpointsandsealingareas.Replacethegearsifyoundany
scoring,roughsurfaces,orwearonthegearshafts.
B.Gearteethmustbefreefromexcessivescoringandwear.Replacethe
gearsifyoundbrokenornickedgearteeth.
C.Gearfaceedgemustbefreefromsharpness.Thesharpedgesofgears
willmillintothebearingblocks.Replacethegearsifyoundanysharp
gearfaceedge.
D.Bearingareasofthebearingblocksmustnothaveexcessivewearor
scoring.
E.Faceofthebearingblocksthatareincontactwiththegearsmustbe
freeofwear,roughness,orscoring.
3.Inspectthefrontplateandbackplatefordamageorwear.Iftheplatesare
damagedorworn,replacethepump.

Note:Whenassemblingthepump,checktheV-shapedmarkerlinemadeduring
disassemblytoensurethatthecomponentsareproperlyaligned.
1.LubricatenewO-rings,pressureseals,andback-upgasketswithathincoat
ofpetroleumjelly,andlubricateallinternalpumppartsfreelywithclean
hydraulicuid.
2.Installnewshaftsealinthefrontplate.
Note:Thesealshouldbepressedintoplaceuntilitreachesthebottom
ofthebore.
3.Installtheretainingringintothegrooveofthefrontplate.
