ServicingtheCutting
Blades
Maintainsharpbladesthroughoutthecuttingseason
becausesharpbladescutcleanlywithouttearingor
shreddingthegrassblades.T earingandshredding
turnsgrassbrownattheedges,whichslowsgrowth
andincreasesthechanceofdisease.
Checkthebladesdailyforsharpness,andforany
wearordamage.Sharpenthebladesasnecessary.
Ifabladeisdamagedorworn,replaceitimmediately
withagenuineTororeplacementblade.
DANGER
Awornordamagedbladecanbreak,anda
pieceofthebladecouldbethrownatyou
orbystanders,resultinginseriouspersonal
injuryordeath.
Inspectthebladeperiodicallyforwearor
damage.
Replaceawornordamagedblade.
Inspectthebladesevery8hours.
PreparingtoServicetheBlades
1.DisengagethePTO,movethemotion-control
leverstotheNEUTRAL-LOCKEDposition,andset
theparkingbrake.
2.MovethethrottlelevertotheSLOWposition,
stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitfor
allmovingpartstostopbeforeleavingthe
operatingposition.
InspectingtheBlades
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
1.Inspectthecuttingedges(Figure93).
Note:Iftheedgesarenotsharporhavenicks,
removeandsharpentheblades.Referto
RemovingtheBlades(page70)andSharpening
theBlades(page70).
2.Inspecttheblades,especiallythecurvedarea
(Figure93).
Note:Ifyounoticeanydamage,wear,oraslot
forminginthisarea,immediatelyinstallanew
blade(Figure93).

DANGER
Ifyouallowthebladetowear,aslot
willformbetweenthesailandatpart
oftheblade.Eventuallyapieceofthe
blademaybreakoffandbethrownfrom
underthehousing,possiblyresultingin
seriousinjurytoyouorbystanders.
Inspectthebladeperiodicallyforwear
ordamage.
Nevertrytostraightenabladethat
isbentorweldabrokenorcracked
blade.
Replaceawornordamagedblade.
