Theengineoilpressureswitchislocatedontheengineneartheoillter(Figure
156).Theoilpressureswitchisanormallyclosedswitchthatopenswithoil
pressure.
Theoilpressureswitchopensfrom40to60kPa(5.8to8.8psi).
Theoilpressureswitchisconnectedtotheenginecontroller.Iftheswitchcloses
whiletheengineisrunning(indicatinglowoilpressure)theECUwillshutdown
theengine.IftheoilpressureswitchfailureisdetectedbytheECU,theengine
willtransmitafaultandthefaultwillbedisplayedontheInfoCenterdisplay.
TestingtheEngineOilPressureSwitch
Note:RefertotheYanmarengineservicemanualforinformationregardingthe
enginelubricationsystemandtesting.
1.Parkthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthecuttingdeck,settheparking
brake,andshutofftheengine.
2.EnsurethatthekeyswitchisintheOFFposition.
3.Locatetheengineoilpressureswitchontheengineanddisconnectthewire
harnessconnectorfromtheswitch.
4.Connectamultimeter(ohmssetting)acrosstheswitchharnessconnector
terminalstocheckthecontinuityoftheswitch:
A.Withtheengineshutoff,thereshouldbenocontinuitybetweenthe
switchharnessterminals.
B.Withtheenginerunning,thereshouldbecontinuitybetweentheswitch
harnessterminals.
5.Ifthetestingdeterminesthattheoilpressureswitchisnotoperatingcorrectly,
checkthepressureswitchand/orpressureswitchharnessforcontinuity.
Repairorreplacethecomponentsasnecessary.
6.Iftheswitchtestingiscorrectandthecircuitproblemstillexists,checkthe
machinewireharness;refertotheElectricalSchematicsandWireHarness
