BatteryCare
1.Thetopofthebatterymustbekeptclean.lfthemachineisstoredina
locationwheretemperaturesareextremelyhigh,thebatterywilldischarge
morerapidlythanifthemachineisstoredinalocationwheretemperatures
arecool.
WARNING
Wearsafetygogglesandrubbergloveswhenworkingwith
electrolyte.Chargebatteryinawellventilatedplacesogasses
producedwhilechargingcandissipate.Sincethegasesare
explosive,keepopenamesandelectricalsparksawayfrom
thebattery;donotsmoke.Nauseamayresultifthegasesare
inhaled.Unplugchargerfromelectricaloutletbeforeconnectingor
disconnectingchargerleadstoorfrombatteryposts.
IMPORTANT
Donotremovellcaps(ifequipped)whilecleaningthebattery.
2.Checkbatteryconditionweeklyorafterevery50hoursofoperation.Keep
terminalsandentirebatterycasecleanbecauseadirtybatterywilldischarge
slowly.
A.Cleanbatterybywashingentirecasewithasolutionofbakingsodaand
water.Rinsewithclearwater.
B.Coatbatterypostsandcableconnectorswithbatteryterminalprotector
(ToroPartNo.107−0392)orpetroleumjellytopreventcorrosion.
3.Batterycablesmustbetightonterminalstoprovidegoodelectricalcontact.
WARNING
Connectingbatterycablestothewrongbatterypostcouldresultin
personalinjuryand/ordamagetotheelectricalsystem.
4.Ifcorrosionoccursatterminals,disconnectcables.Alwaysdisconnect
negative(−)cablerst.Cleanclampsandterminalsseparately.Reconnect
cableswithpositive(+)cablerst.Coatbatterypostsandcableconnectors
withbatteryterminalprotector(ToroPartNo.107−0392)orpetroleumjelly
topreventcorrosion.
5.Ifthebatteryelectrolyteisaccessible,checkelectrolytelevelevery25
operatinghoursandevery30daysifmachineisinstorage.Maintaincell
levelwithdistilledwater.Donotllcellsabovethellline.
