ChargeHydraulicSystem
Note:Wheninitiallystartingthehydraulicsystemwithneworrebuiltcomponents
suchasmotors,pumpsorliftcylinders,itisimportantthatthehydraulicsystem
bechargedproperly.Airmustbepurgedfromthesystemtoreducethechance
ofcomponentdamage.
IMPORTANT
Changehydraulicoillterswheneverhydrauliccomponentsare
repairedorreplaced.
1.Parkmachineonalevelsurface.Lowercuttingdecks,stopengineandapply
parkingbrake.Removekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Makesureallhydraulicconnections,linesandcomponentsaresecured
tightly.
3.Ifhydrauliccomponentfailurewassevereorthehydraulicsystemis
contaminated,ushandrellhydraulicsystemandhydraulicreservoir(see
FlushHydraulicSystem(page5–87)).
IMPORTANT
Whenllinghydraulicreservoir,useonlyhydraulicuidsspecied
inOperator’sManual.Otheruidscouldcausesystemdamage.
4.Makesurehydraulicreservoirisfull.Addcorrecthydraulicoiltoreservoir
ifnecessary.
5.Primehydraulicpumps(seePrimingHydraulicPumps(page5–86)).

Beforejackingupthemachine,reviewandfollowJacking
Instructions(page1–7).
6.Raisemachinesothatallwheelsareoffthegroundandplaceappropriate
jackstandsundertheframetosupportthemachine.
IMPORTANT
Duringinitialoperation,checkhydraulicreservoiroillevelfrequently
andaddoilasnecessary.
7.Makesuretractionpedalandliftswitchesareinneutral.Startengineand
runatlowidlespeed.Thegearpumpshouldpickupoilandllthehydraulic
system.Ifthereisnoindicationofllinthirty(30)seconds,stoptheengine
anddeterminethecause.
8.Afterthehydraulicsystemstartstoshowsignsofll,actuatealiftswitchuntil
theliftcylinderrodmovesinandoutseveraltimes.Iftheliftcylinderdoesnot
moveafterten(10)tofteen(15)seconds,orifthepumpemitsabnormal
sounds,shuttheengineoffimmediatelyanddeterminecauseorproblem.

A.Looselterorsuctionlines.
B.Blockedsuctionline.
