Pivoting(Tilting)theFront
CuttingUnittotheUpright
Position
Note:Althoughnotneededfornormalmaintenance
procedures,youcanpivot(tilt)thefrontcuttingunitto
anuprightposition.
1.Raisethefrontcuttingunitslightlyofftheoor,
engagetheparkingbrake,shutofftheengine,
andremovethekey.
2.Removethehairpincotterandclevispin
securingthedeck-transportlatchtothelatch
plateandpivotthelatchtowardtherearofthe
deck.
3.Removethehairpincotterandclevispin
securingtheheight-of-cutchainstotherearof
thecuttingunit.
4.Starttheengine,slowlyraisethefrontcutting
unit,shutofftheengine,andremovethekey.
5.Graspthefrontofthecuttingunitandliftitto
anuprightposition.
6.Holdthecuttingunitupright,tthecableend
overthepinonthecuttingunitliftarm,and
secureitwiththehairpincotter(Figure82).

1.Withthehelpofanotherperson,holdthecutting
unitupright,removethehairpincottersecuring
thecableend,andremovethecablefromthe
pin.
2.Pivot(tilt)thecuttingunitdownward.
3.Storethecableundertheoperator'splatform.
4.Sitontheseat,starttheengine,andlowerthe
cuttingunituntilitisslightlyofftheoor.
5.Shutofftheengine,waitforallpartstostop
moving,andremovethekey.
6.Securetheheight-of-cutchainstotherearof
thecuttingunit.
7.Pivotthetransportlatchupwardintoposition
andsecureitwiththeclevispinandcotterpin.
AdjustingtheCuttingUnit
Pitch
MeasuringtheCuttingUnitPitch
Cuttingunitpitchisthedifferenceinheightofcutfrom
thefrontofthebladeplanetothebackoftheblade
plane.T ororecommendsabladepitchof8to11mm
(5/16to7/16inch).Thatisthebackofthebladeplane
is8to11mm(5/16to7/16inch)higherthanthefront.
1.Positionthemachineonalevelsurfaceonthe
shopoor.
2.Setthecuttingunittothedesiredheightofcut.
3.Rotateabladetopointstraightforward.
4.Usingashortruler,measurefromtheoorto
thefronttipoftheblade.
5.Rotatethebladetiptotherearandmeasure
fromtheoortothetipoftheblade.
6.Subtractthefrontdimensionfromtherear
dimensiontocalculatethebladepitch.
AdjustingtheFrontCuttingUnit
Pitch
1.Loosenthejamnutsatthetoporbottomofthe
height-of-cutchainU-bolt(Figure83).
2.Adjusttheothersetofnutstoraiseorlowerthe
rearofthecuttingunitandattainthecorrect
mower-deckpitch.
3.Tightenthejamnuts.
