CoolingSystemSafety
Swallowingenginecoolantcancausepoisoning;
keepoutofreachfromchildrenandpets.
Dischargeofhot,pressurizedcoolantortouchingahot
radiatorandsurroundingpartscancausesevereburns.
Alwaysallowtheenginetocoolatleast15minutes
beforeremovingtheradiatorcap.
Usearagwhenopeningtheradiatorcap,andopen
thecapslowlytoallowsteamtoescape.
CheckingtheCooling
System
ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
Checkthecoolantlevelatthebeginningofeachday.The
capacityofthesystemis8.5L(9USqt).
1.Carefullyremovetheradiatorcapandexpansion-tank
cap(Figure71).
2.Checkthecoolantlevelintheradiator.
Note:Theradiatorshouldbelledtothetopofthe
llerneckandtheexpansiontanklledtotheFull
mark.

ethyleneglycolanti-freeze.

Removedebrisfromtheoilradiator/oilcoolerdaily.
Cleanthemmorefrequentlyindirtyconditions.
Thismachineisequippedwithahydraulically-drivenfandrive
systemthatautomatically(ormanually)reversestoreduce
theradiator/oilcoolerandscreendebrisbuildup.Whilethis
featurecanhelpreducethetimerequiredtocleanradiator/oil
cooler,itdoesnoteliminatetheneedforroutinecleaning.
Periodiccleaningandinspectionoftheradiator/oilcooleris
stillrequired.
1.Shutofftheengineandraisethehood.
2.Cleantheengineareathoroughlyofalldebris.
3.Cleanbothsidesoftheradiator/oilcoolerarea
thoroughlywithcompressedair(Figure72).
Note:Startfromthefansideandblowthedebrisout
towardtheback.Then,cleanfromthebacksideand
blowtowardthefront.Repeatthisprocedureseveral
timesuntilallchaffanddebrisisremoved.
Important:Cleaningtheradiator/oilcooler
withwatercanpromoteprematurecorrosionand
damagetocomponents.
