Ifthedeectionisnot10mm(3/8inch),loosenthe
alternator-mountingbolts(Figure69).
Note:Increaseordecreasethealternator-belttensionand
tightenthebolts.Checkthedeectionofthebeltagainto
ensurethatthetensioniscorrect.

Whenproperlytensioned,theinsidemeasurementofthe
extensionspring(hooktohook)shouldbeapproximately
8.3to9.5cm(3-1/4to3-3/4inches).Oncethecorrect
springtensionisattained,adjustthestopbolt(carriagebolt)
untilthereisapproximately2to5mm(0.065to0.185inch)
clearancebetweentheheadoftheboltandtheidlerarm
(Figure70).
