EngineRemoval(Figure21)
1.Parkmachineonalevelsurface,lowercuttingdecks,stopengine,apply
parkingbrakeandremovekeyfromthekeyswitch.
2.Disconnectnegativebatterycablefrombatteryterminalandthendisconnect
positivecablefrombattery(seeBatteryService(page6–91)).
3.Raiseandsupporthood.
CAUTION
Donotopenradiatorcapordraincoolantiftheradiatororengineis
hot.Allowtheengineandexhaustsystemtocoolbeforeworkingon
theengine.Pressurized,hotcoolantcanescapeandcauseburns.
Ethylene−glycolantifreezeispoisonous.Disposeofcoolantproperly
orstoreitinaproperlylabeledcontainerawayfromchildrenand
pets.
4.Draincoolantfromtheradiatorintoasuitablecontainer(seeRadiatorand
OilCoolerAssembly(page4–17)).Disconnectupperandlowerhosesfrom
theradiator.
5.Removeaircleanerassemblyfromengine(seeAirCleanerSystem(page
4–11)).
6.Removeexhaustpipe(item16inFigure21)andexhaustbracket(item13
inFigure21oritem6inFigure26)fromengine.

D.Thenegativebatterycableattheengineblock(Figure22).
