Disassembly(Figure154andFigure155)
1.Removeoilfromliftcylinderintoadrainpanbyslowlypumpingthecylinder
shaft.Plugbothportsandcleantheoutsideofthecylinder.
IMPORTANT
Preventdamagewhenclampingthecylinderinavise;clampon
theclevisonly.
2.Mountliftcylindersecurelyinavisebyclampingontheclevisendofthe
barrel.Useofavisewithsoftjawsisrecommended.
3.Forfrontdeckliftcylinder,useaspannerwrenchtoloosenandremove
internalcollar(item2inFigure154)frombarrel.
4.Forwingdeckliftcylinder,loosenheadfrombarrelasfollows:
A.Useaspannerwrenchtorotateheadclockwiseuntiltheedgeofthe
retainingringappearsinthebarrelopening.
B.Insertascrewdriverunderthebevelededgeoftheretainingringtostart
theretainingringthroughtheopening.
C.Rotatetheheadcounter-clockwisetoremoveretainingringfrombarrel
andhead.
5.Extractshaftwithheadandpistonbycarefullytwistingandpullingonthe
shaft.
IMPORTANT
Donotclampvisejawsagainsttheshaftsurface.
6.Mountshaftsecurelyinavisebyclampingontheclevisoftheshaft.Remove
locknutandthenslidepistonandheadofftheshaft.Forfrontdecklift
cylinder,removeinternalcollarfromshaft.
7.RemoveanddiscardallsealsandO−ringsfromthepistonandthehead.
CAUTION
Useeyeprotectionsuchasgoggleswhenusingcompressedairto
drycylindercomponents.
8.Washcylinderpartsincleansolvent.Drypartswithcompressedair.Do
notwipepartsdrywithpapertowelsorcloth.Lintinahydraulicsystemwill
causedamage.
9.Carefullyinspectinternalsurfaceofbarrelfordamage(deepscratches,
out-of-round,etc.).Inspectshaftandpistonforevidenceofexcessive
scoring,pittingorwear.Replaceliftcylinderifinternalcomponentsarefound
tobewornordamaged.

1.Makesureallcylindercomponentsarecleanbeforeassembly.
2.Coatnewsealkitcomponentswithcleanhydraulicoil.
A.InstallnewsealsandO-ringstothepiston.
B.Installnewseals,O-ringandback-upringtothehead.
