someofwhichmaybeturfconditions.Turfconditionssuchasexcessivethatch,
unevengroundconditions,“sponginess”orattemptingtocutofftoomuchgrass
heightmaynotalwaysbeovercomebyadjustingthemachine.
Rememberthatthe“effective”oractualheight−of−cutdependsoncuttingdeck
weight,tirepressures,hydrauliccounterbalancesettingsandturfconditions.
Effectiveheight−of−cutwillbedifferentthanthebenchsetheight−of−cut.

Bladecondition
Sharpenbladesiftheircuttingedgesaredullornicked.
Inspectbladesailforwearordamage.Replacebladeifneeded.
MowerhousingconditionMakesurethatcuttingchambersareingoodcondition.
Keepundersideofdeckclean.Debrisbuildupwillreducecutting
performance.
Height−of−cutMakesureallcuttingdecksaresetatthesameheight−of−cut.Set
decksasspeciedintheOperatorsManual.
CuttingdeckalignmentandgroundfollowingCheckliftarmsandcuttingdeckpivotlinkagesforwear,damageor
binding.Also,inspectforbentordamagedpivotshafts.Checkand
adjusttheCounterbalancePressure(UsingPressureGauge)(page
5–45).Checkthecuttingdeckrakeorbladeplane.RefertoOperator’s
Manualforadjustingthefrontandsidecuttingdeckspitch.
Rollerandcastorwheelcondition
Allrollersandcasterwheelsshouldrotatefreely.Replacebearingsif
wornordamaged.
GrassconditionsMowwhengrassisdryforbestcuttingresults.Also,removeonly25
mm(1in)or1/3ofthegrassbladewhencutting.
