ReplacingtheGrassDeector
1.Positionthemachineonalevelsurface,raisethe
cuttingunit,engagetheparkingbrake,putthe
tractionpedalinneutral,thePTOleverinthe
Offposition,shuttheengineoff,andremovethe
ignitionkey.Blockthecuttingunittopreventitfrom
accidentallyfalling.
2.Removethe2bolts,locknuts,andspringssecuring
thedeectormountstothepivotbrackets
(Figure27).
3.Toremovethepivotbrackets,removethecarriage
boltsandnuts(
Figure27).
4.Installthepivotbracketsontopofthedischarge
openingwiththecarriageboltsandnuts.Thehead
ofthecarriageboltsmustbeontheinsideofthe
cuttingunit.

andsprings.Bothlocknutsmustfaceeachother.
Tightenthelocknutsuntiltheyareushagainstthe
deectorpivots.
6.Liftthedeectorandallowittodroptocheckthe
springtension.Thedeectormustbeheldrmlyin
thefulldownwardpositionbythespringtension.
Correctitifnecessary.
AdjustingtheIdlerPulley
Theidlerpulleyappliesforceagainstthebeltsothat
powercanbetransmittedtothebladepulleys.Ifthe
idlerisnottensionedagainstthebeltwithsufcient
force,maximumpowerwillnotbetransmittedtothe
pulleys.Initialtensiononanewbeltrequires25to30
ft-lb(34to41N-m)oftorqueonthelargenut,which
appliesforceagainstthebelt.Asthebeltwearsand
loosens,20to25ft-lb(27to34N-m)oftorqueonthe
largenutisrequired.Iftheidlerisnotadjustedtothese
specications,anadjustmentisnecessary.
1.Positionthemachineonalevelsurface,lowerthe
cuttingunit,engagetheparkingbrake,putthe
tractionpedalinneutral,thePTOleverintheOff
position,shuttheengineoff,andremovetheignition
key.
2.Releasethelatchandloosentheboltsecuringthe
centercover.
3.Removethecentercoverfromthetopofthecutting
unit.
4.Loosenthe2nutssecuringtheidlerplateinplace.
Usingasocketandtorquewrench,tightentheidler
adjustingnutto25-30ft-lb(24-41N-m)(
