notusewater).Repeatthestepfromthefrontofthe
radiatorandagainfromthefanside.
4.Aftertheradiatoristhoroughlycleaned,cleanout
debristhatmayhavecollectedinthechannelatthe
radiatorbaseandaroundtheframe.Also,cleanout
theenginecompartmentandbrakelinkagetoassure
optimumperformance.
5.Closethecleanoutcoverandsecuretheangenut.
6.Closethehood.
BrakeMaintenance
AdjustingtheServiceBrakes
Adjusttheservicebrakeswhenthereismorethan1inchof
freetravelofthebrakepedal,orwhenthebrakesdonotwork
effectively.Freetravelisthedistancethebrakepedalmoves
beforeyoufeelbrakingresistance.
Note:Usethewheelmotorbacklashtorockthedrums
backandforthtoensurethatthedrumsarefreepriortoand
afteradjustment.
1.Toreducefreetravelofthebrakepedals,tightenthe
brakesbylooseningthefrontnutonthethreadedend
ofthebrakecable(Figure55).
