1.Openthehoodandsecuretheproprod.
2.Checkthetensionofthealternatorbeltbydepressing
it(Figure57)midwaybetweenthealternatorandthe
crankshaftpulleyswith22lb(10kg)offorce.

Thebeltshoulddeect7/16inch(11mm).Ifthe
deectionisincorrect,proceedtostep3.Ifcorrect,
continueoperation
3.Loosentheboltsecuringthebracetothealternator

Figure57),andthealternatorpivotbolt.
4.Insertaprybarbetweenthealternatorandthe
engineandpryoutonthealternator.
5.Whenyouachievethepropertension,tighten
thealternator,braceandpivotboltstosecurethe
adjustment.
ReplacingtheBladeDrive
Belts
ServiceInterval:Every50hours
Thebladedrivebelts,tensionedbythespringloaded
idlerpulleys,areverydurable.However,aftermany
hoursofuse,thebeltswillshowsignsofwear.Signsof
awornbeltare:squealingwhenbeltisrotating,blades
slippingwhencuttinggrass,poorqualityofcut,frayed
edges,burnmarksandcracks.Replacethebeltsifanyof
theseconditionsareevident.
1.Lowerthecuttingunittothe1inchheightofcut
setting,movethethrottlelevertotheSlowposition,
stoptheengine,settheparkingbrake,andremove
theignitionkey.
2.Removethebeltcoversfromthetopofthecutting
unitandsetthecoversaside.
3.Usingabreakerbarorsimilartool,movetheidler
pulleyforthetopbelt(
Figure58)awayfromthetop
drivebelttoreleasethebelttensionandallowthe
belttobeslippedoffthepulleys.
