AlwaysDisconnectthenegative(black)battery
cablebeforedisconnectingthepositive(red)
cable.

cablebeforereconnectingthenegative(black)

1.DisengagethePTOandsettheparkingbrake.
2.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforall
movingpartstostopbeforeleavingtheoperating
position.
3.Lifttheblackrubbercoveronthenegativecable.
Disconnectthenegativebatterycablefromthe
negative(-)batteryterminal(
Figure37).
4.Slidetheredterminalbootoffthepositive(red)
batteryterminal.Thenremovethepositive(red)
batterycable(Figure37).
5.Removethebatteryholddownplate(
Figure37)and
removethebattery.
InstallingtheBattery
1.Placethebatterontothemachine(Figure37).
2.Securethebatterywiththeholddownplate,j-bolts,
andlocknuts.
3.First,installthepositive(red)batterycableto
positive(+)batteryterminalwithanut,washerand
bolt(
Figure37).Slidetherubbercoveroverthepost.
4.Theninstallthenegativebatterycableandground
wiretothenegative(-)batteryterminalwithanut,
washerandbolt(
