ReplacingtheCasterWheel
ForkBushings
Thecasterwheelforksaremountedinbushingspressed
intothetopandbottomofthecarrierframemounting
pivottubes.Tocheckthebushings,movethecaster
forksbackandforthandside-to-side.Ifacasterforkis
loose,thebushingsarewornandmustbereplaced.
1.Raisethecuttingunitsothecasterwheelsareoff
theoor,thensupportthefrontofthemowerwith
jackstands.
2.Removethelockingpinandspacer(s)fromthetop
ofthecasterwheelfork(
Figure43).

3.Pullthecasterwheelforkoutofthemountingtube,
leavingthespacer(s)onthebottomofthefork.
Rememberthelocationofthespacersoneachfork
toensurecorrectinstallation,andtomaintainalevel
deck.
4.Insertapinpunchintothemountingtubeand
carefullydriveoutthebushings(Figure44).Clean
theinsideofthemountingtube.

5.Greasetheinsideandoutsideofthenewbushings.
Useahammerandatplatetocarefullydrivethe
bushingsintothepivottubes.
6.Inspectthecasterwheelforkforwearandreplace
ifnecessary(
Figure43).
7.Slidethecasterwheelforkthroughthebushingsin
themountingtube.Replacethespacer(s)ontothe
forkandsecurewiththeretainingring(Figure43).
Important:Theinsidediameterofthebushings
maycollapseslightlywheninstalled.Ifthe
casterwheelforkdoesnotslideintothenew
bushings,reambothbushingstoaninside
diameterof1.126inch(29mm).
8.Greasethettingonthecarrierframepivottubes
usingNo.2generalpurposelithiumbaseor
molybdenumbasegrease.
ServicingtheCasterWheel
andBearings
Thecasterwheelsrotateonarollerbearingsupportedby
aspannerbushing.Ifthebearingiskeptwelllubricated,
wearwillbeminimal.Failuretokeepthebearingwell
lubricatedwillcauserapidwear.Awobblycasterwheel
usuallyindicatesawornbearing.
1.Removethelocknutandwheelboltholdingthe
casterwheeltothecasterfork(Figure45).
