•Ensurethattheengineshutsoffwithin3secondsafterreleasingtheblade-control
bar.
Aftereachuse
•Cleangrassclippingsanddirtfromunderthemachine.
Every25hours
•Replacetheairlter;replaceitmorefrequentlyindustyoperatingconditions.
•Chargethebatteryfor24hours(electric-startmodelonly).
Every100hours
•Cleanthecoolingsystem(refertoyourengineowner'smanual).
•Replacethesparkplug.
Beforestorage
•Emptythefueltankbeforerepairsasdirectedandbeforeannualstorage.
Yearly
•Replacethebladeorhaveitsharpened(morefrequentlyiftheedgedullsquickly).

•Disconnectthespark-plugwirefromthespark
plugandremovetheignitionkey(electric-start
modelonly)beforeperforminganymaintenance
procedure.
•Wearglovesandeyeprotectionwhenservicing
themachine.
•Thebladeissharp;contactingthebladecanresult
inseriouspersonalinjury.Weargloveswhen
servicingtheblade.
•Nevertamperwithsafetydevices.Checktheir
properoperationregularly.
•Tippingthemachinemaycausethefueltoleak.
Fuelisammableandexplosive,andcancause
personalinjury.Runtheenginedrytoremovethe
fuelwithahandpump;neversiphonthefuel.
PreparingforMaintenance
1.Shutofftheengine,removetheignitionkey
(electric-startmodelonly),andwaitforall
movingpartstostop.
2.Disconnectthespark-plugwirefromthespark
plug(Figure24).
