E-stop Switch Use the remote engine shutoff control knob to stop the engine when you are in the backhoe operator’s seat. • Push down on the control knob to stop the engine (Figure 49). • Pull up on the control knob before re-starting the engine (Figure 49). Boom-lock Handle Use the boom-lock handle to release the lock for the boom and allow the boom to move from the transport (upright) position (Figure 52). Specifications Operation Determine the left and right sides of the machine from the normal operating position. The backhoe controls consists of 4 levers and 1 button. The left lever controls the boom and the swing; the 2 middle levers control the left and right stabilizers, and the right lever controls the dipper and the bucket. The farther you move a lever beyond the Neutral position, the faster the component responds. The E-stop knob is used to shut down the machine in an emergency.

Storage • When you are not using the backhoe, store it indoors in a clean and dry place. Note: If you are not able to store the backhoe indoors, cover the backhoe to keep moisture, dirt, and debris away from the machine. • Grease all exposed cylinder rods to prevent them from rusting. • Repair or replace any worn, damage, or missing parts on the backhoe. • Install dust caps onto the hydraulic nipples to prevent the hydraulic system from contamination.
