Forstorageover30days,preparethemachine,the
attachments,andtheengineasfollows:
PreparingtheMachineand
Attachments
1.Thoroughlycleanthemachineandalltheattachments;
refertoRemovingDirtandDebrisfromtheMachine
(page77).
2.Loweralltheattachmentsandsettheparkingbrake.
3.Stoptheengine,removethekey,andwaitforallmoving
partstostopbeforeleavingtheoperatingposition.
4.Checkthetirepressureandadjustit,ifnecessary;refer
toMaintainingtheAirPressureintheTires(page57).
5.Checkallfastenersandtightenthemasnecessary.
6.Greaseallttingsandpivotpointsandwipeupany
excessgrease;refertoGreasingtheMachine(page44).
7.Repairanydentsinthemachineortheattachments,
andlightlysandandpaintareasthatarebare,scratched,
chipped,orrusted.Paintisavailablefroman
AuthorizedToroServiceDealer.
8.Servicethebatteryandthecablesasfollows:
A.Removethebatteryterminalsfromthebattery
posts.
B.Cleanthebattery,terminals,andpostswithawire
brushandbakingsodasolution.
C.Coatthecableterminalsandbatterypostswith
Grafo112Xskin-overgrease(ToroPartNo.
505-47)orequivalentgrease.
D.Slowlyrechargethebatteryevery60daysfor24
hourstopreventleadsulfationofthebattery.
9.Checkandtightenallbolts,nuts,andscrews.Repairor
replaceanypartthatisdamaged.
10.Storethemachineinaclean,drygarageorstoragearea.
Removethekeyfromtheignitionswitchandkeepitin
amemorableplace.
11.Coverthemachinetoprotectitandkeepitclean.
PreparingtheEngine
1.Removedirt,grime,andchafffromtheexternalparts
oftheengine.
2.Changetheengineoilandtheoillter;referto
ChangingtheEngineOilandFilter(page48).
3.Starttheengineandrunitatidlespeedfor
approximately2minutes.
4.Stoptheengine.
5.Flushthefueltankwithfresh,cleandieselfuel.
6.Secureallthefuelsystemttings.
7.Servicetheaircleaner;refertoServicingtheAir-cleaner
System(page50).
8.Sealtheaircleanerinletandtheexhaustoutletwith
plasticandweatherprooftape.
9.Checktheantifreezeprotectionandadda50%
ethyleneglycoland50%watersolutionofanti-freeze
asneededfortheexpectedminimumtemperaturein
yourarea.
