FillingtheEnginewithOil
1.Removetheoil-llcapfromthellerneckbypulling
thecapupward(Figure43).
Note:Useafunnelwithaexiblehosetodirectthe
engineoilintotheengine.
2.Fillthecrankcasewithapproximately7.0L(7.4US
qt)ofthespeciedengineoil;refertoServicingthe
EngineOilandFilter(page38).
3.Installtheoil-llcap.
4.Starttheengine,runitatidleforabout2minutes,and
checkforoilleaks.
5.Stoptheengineandremovethekey.
6.Waitfor2or3minutesandchecktheoillevel;referto
steps2through6inCheckingtheEngineOilLevel
(page23)
.
7.Installthesidepanel;refertoInstallingtheSidePanels
(page37).

1.Removetherightsidepanel;refertoRemovingthe
SidePanels(page36).
2.Placeasmalldrainpanundertheoillterandthe
oil-lteradapter(Figure45).

4.Useacleanragtowipecleanthesurfaceoftheoil-lter
adapter,wheretheoillterseats.
5.Fillthenewoillterwiththespeciedengineoil,allow
thelterelementtosaturatewiththeoil,andthenpour
outtheexcessoil.
6.Applyathinlayeroftheengineoiltothesealofthe
newoillter.
7.Alignthenewoilltertotheoil-lteradapterand
rotatethelterclockwiseuntilthesealoftheoillter
contactstheoil-lteradapter(Figure45).
Note:Donotuseanoillterwrenchtoinstallthe
newoillter.Thewrenchcandentanoillter,causing
aleak.
8.Handtightentheoillteranadditional1/2turn
(Figure45).
9.Removethesmalloilpanfromundertheoillter.
10.Installthesidepanel;referto

Note:Everytimeyouservicetheaircleanersystem,ensure
thatallhoseconnectionsandangesareairtight.Replace
alldamagedparts.

Squeezethesidesofthedustvalvetoreleaseanycollected
water,dust,ordirtfromthevalve(Figure46).
