AdjustingtheBladeBrake

ServiceInterval:Beforeeachuseordaily
Every100hours
Wheneveryouinstallanewbladebrakecableassembly
orreplacethebelt,adjustthebladebrakecable.
1.Stoptheengineandwaitforallmovingpartstostop.
2.Disconnectthewirefromthesparkplug(Figure10).
3.Removethebeltcover.
4.Loosenthebladebrakecablenutsuntilthebrake
cableconduitslides(Figure26).

5.Pullthecabletotheremovetheslack,butdonot
puttensiononthespring.
6.Tightenthebladebrakecablenuttolockthe
adjustmentinplace.
7.Checktheadjustmentbyactivatingthebladebrake
clutch.
Note:Theextendedspringshouldmeasurebetween
1-3/4and2inches.(44and51mm)
8.Installthebeltcover.
9.Connectthewiretothesparkplug.

Alwaysmowwithasharpblade.Asharpbladecuts
cleanlyandwithouttearingorshreddingthegrassblades.
1.Stoptheengineandwaitforallmovingpartstostop.
2.Disconnectthewirefromthesparkplug(Figure10).
3.Drainthegasolinefromthefueltank;referto
EmptyingtheFuelTankandCleaningtheFuelFilter.
4.Tipthemowerontoitsrightside(Figure27).

Carefullyexaminethebladeforsharpnessandwear,
especiallywheretheatandthecurvedpartsmeet
(Figure28A).Becausesandandabrasivematerialcan
wearawaythemetalthatconnectstheatandcurved
partsoftheblade,checkthebladebeforeusingthe
mower.Ifyounoticeaslotorwear(Figure28Band
Figure28C),replacetheblade;refertoRemovingthe
Blade.
