Preparation
•Onlyuseaccessoriesandattachmentsapprovedbythe
manufacturer.
•Wearappropriateclothingincludinghardhat,safety
glasses,andearprotection.Longhair,looseclothingor
jewelrymaygettangledinmovingparts.
•Inspecttheareawheretheequipmentistobeusedand
removeallobjectssuchasrocks,toysandwirewhichcan
bethrownbythemachine.
•Useextracarewhenhandlinggasolineandotherfuels.
Theyareammableandvaporsareexplosive.
–Useonlyanapprovedcontainer.
–Neverremovegascaporaddfuelwithengine
running.Allowenginetocoolbeforerefueling.Do
notsmoke.
–Neverrefuelordrainthemachineindoors.
•Checkthatoperator'spresencecontrols,safetyswitches
andshieldsareattachedandfunctioningproperly.Donot
operateunlesstheyarefunctioningproperly.
Operation
•Neverrunanengineinanenclosedarea.
•Onlyoperateingoodlight,keepingawayfromholesand
hiddenhazards.
•Onlystartenginefromtheoperator'sposition.
•Besureofyourfooting,especiallywhenbackingup.
Walk,don'trun.Neveroperateonwetgrass.Reduced
footingcouldcauseslipping.
•Slowdownanduseextracareonhillsides.Besureto
travelsidetosideonhillsides.Turfconditionscanaffect
themachine'sstability.Usecautionwhileoperatingnear
drop-offs.
•Donotoperatethelawnmowerwithouteitherthegrass
catcherortheguardinplace.
•Donotchangetheenginegovernorsettingoroverspeed
theengine.
•Stoponlevelgroundandshutoffenginebeforeleaving
theoperator'spositionforanyreasonincludingemptying
thecatcheroruncloggingthechute.
•Stopequipmentandinspectbladeafterstrikingobjectsor
ifanabnormalvibrationoccurs.Makenecessaryrepairs
beforeresumingoperations.
•Keephandsandfeetawayfromthecuttingunits.
•Lookbehindanddownbeforebackinguptobesureof
aclearpath.
•Keeppetsandbystandersaway.
•Slowdownandusecautionwhencrossingroadsand
sidewalks.Stopbladeifyouarenotmowing.
•Beawareofthemowerdischargedirectionanddonot
pointitatanyone.
•Donotoperatethemowerundertheinuenceofalcohol
ordrugs.
•Usecarewhenloadingorunloadingthemachineintoa
trailerortruck.
•Usecarewhenapproachingblindcorners,shrubs,trees,
orotherobjectsthatmayobscurevision.
MaintenanceandStorage
•Stopengineanddisconnectsparkplugwire.Waitforall
movementtostopbeforeadjusting,cleaningorrepairing.
•Cleangrassanddebrisfromcuttingunit,drive,mufer,
andenginetohelppreventres.Cleanupoilorfuel
spillage.
•Letenginecoolbeforestoringanddonotstorenear
ame.
•Shutofffuelwhilestoringortransporting.Donotstore
fuelnearamesordrainindoors.
•Neverallowuntrainedpersonneltoservicemachine.
•Removesparkplugwirebeforemakinganyrepairs.
•Usecarewhencheckingblade.Wrapthebladeorwear
gloves,andusecautionwhenservicingthem.Only
replaceblade.Neverstraightenorweldit.
•Keephandsandfeetawayfrommovingparts.Ifpossible,
donotmakeadjustmentswiththeenginerunning.
•Keepallpartsingoodworkingconditionandallhardware
tightened.Replaceallwornordamageddecals.
