ServicingtheBlade
Alwaysmowwithasharpblade.Asharpbladecutsthegrass
evenly,withouttearingorshreddingthegrass.
Whenyoureplacetheblade,useonlygenuineToro
replacementblades.
WARNING
Someonecouldaccidentallystartthemotor
andcauseaseriousinjurytotheoperatororto
bystanders.
Donotattempttoinspect,remove,orreplacethe
bladewithoutrstdisconnectingthemachinefrom
thepowersource.
1.Stopthemotorandwaitforallmovingpartstostop.
2.Disconnectthemachinefromtheelectricalpower
source.
3.Tipthemachineontoitsside.
4.Carefullyexaminethebladeforsharpnessandwear,
especiallywheretheatandcurvedpartsoftheblade
meet.Ifyounoticewear,replacetheblade.
Note:Forbestperformance,installanewblade
beforethemowingseasonbegins.Duringtheseason,
ledownsmallnicksonthebladetomaintainits
cuttingedge.
DANGER
Awornordamagedbladecouldbreakanda
pieceofbladecouldbethrownintheoperator's
orbystander'sdirection,causingseriouspersonal
injuryordeath.
Inspectthebladeperiodicallyforwearordamage,
andreplaceawornordamagedblade.
RemovingtheBlade
1.Grasptheendoftheblade(Figure19)witharagor
thicklypaddedglove.

2.Removethebladeboltandtheblade.
Important:Ifthebladeadaptercomesoff,ensure
thatyouinstallitbeforeinstallingthebladeand
bladebolt.Operatingthemachinewithoutthe
bladeadapterwilldamagethemachine.
SharpeningtheBlade
Usealetosharpenthetopsideofthebladeandmaintain
theoriginalcuttingangle.
Note:Thebladewillremainbalancedifyouremovethe
sameamountofmaterialfrombothcuttingedges.
Important:Checkthebalanceofthebladebyputtingit
onabladebalancer.Youcanpurchaseaninexpensive
balanceratahardwarestore.Abalancedbladestaysina
horizontalposition;anunbalancedbladesettlestothe
heavyside.Ifthebladeisnotbalanced,lemoremetal
offthecuttingedgeontheheavyendoftheblade.
InstallingtheBlade
Installasharp,balancedbladeandthebladebolt.Thesail
partoftheblademustpointtowardthetopofthemachine
housingtoensurecorrectinstallation.Tightenthebladebolt
to20N-m.
