R un the engine dr y or r emo v e the gasoline with a
hand pump; nev er siphon.
Servicing the Air Filter
Clean the pre-cleaner and re place the paper air filter yearly
or after ev er y 25 operating hours; re place the paper air filter
more frequently in dusty operating conditions .
1. P erfor m the pre-maintenance procedures; refer to
Pre paring for Maintenance .
2. R emo v e the screws that secure the air filter co v er
( Figure 34 ).

3. R e place the co v er and clean it thoroughly .
4. R emo v e the foam pre-cleaner .
5. W ash the pre-cleaner with a mild deterg ent and w ater ,
then blot it dr y .
6. R emo v e the paper air filter and discard it.
Important: Do not tr y to clean a paper air filter .
7. Inser t the new paper air filter into the foam pre-cleaner .
8. Install the air filter components .
9. Install the co v er and secure it.
Changing the Engine Oil
Change the engine oil after the fir st 5 operating hour s ;
c hang e it yearly thereafter .
R un the engine a few min utes before c hanging the oil
to w ar m it. W ar m oil flo ws better and car ries more
contaminants .

2. R emo v e the dipstic k ( Figure 35 ).

3. Tip the mo w er onto its side , with the air filter up , to
drain the used oil out through the oil fill tube ( Figure
36 ).

4. Slo wl y pour oil into the oil fill tube until the oil lev el
reac hes the Full line on the dipstic k ( Figure 37 ). Do
not o v erfill. (Max. fill: 26 oz. (0.77 l), type: SAE 30W
deterg ent oil with an API ser vice classification of SF ,
SG , SH, SJ , SL, or higher .)

5. Install the dipstic k securely .
6. Dispose of the used oil properly at a local recycling
center .
