Effectivestripingisinuencedby
grassconditionandgrasstype
•Limpgrasswherewheeltracksareveryvisibleis
usuallygoodforstriping.
•Stiffgrasswherewheeltracksarelessvisiblewill
usuallyproducepoorstriping.
•Coolseasongrasstypesfoundinnorthernareasare
usuallygoodforstriping.
•Warmseasongrasstypesfoundinsouthernareas
willusuallyproducelesspronouncedstriping.
•Transitionzonegrassesfoundinthenarrowbelt
regioncanproducegoodstripinginsomeareas
andsomeportionsofthegrowingseason,while
producingpoorstripinginotherareasorportions
oftheseason.
•Somegrasstypesproducebetterstripingcontrast
whenmowingshort.Othergrasstypesor
moisturecontentofthegrasscanprovidebetter
contrastwhenmowingatalong/tallheightofcut.
Experimentwithwhatworksbestinyoursituation.
Stripingvisibilityisaffectedbythesun
position
Thisishowthelightisreectedonthegrass.
•Mowingpatternswhichgenerallyruneast–westwill
haveagreatercontrastthannorth–southpatterns.
•Thestripingpatterncontrastislessvisiblearound
noon,andismorevisibleinmorningsand
afternoons.
Stripingvisibilityisaffectedbyyour
position
Thegrasswhichisbenttowardsyouwillappeardarker,
andgrasswhichisbentawayfromyouwillappear
lighter.
•Mowingpatternswhichgenerallyrunalongaroad
willhavegreatercontrastwhenviewedapproaching
orleavingtheproperty.Thecontrastofstriping
willbelessvisiblewhenlookingacrossthemowing
direction.
•Ifthepropertyhasafocalpoint,oraviewing
location,itcanbebenecialtomowinapattern
thatisgenerallytoandfromtheobservationpoint.
Lawnconditionaffectsstriping
visibility
•Largeatareasusuallyprovidebetterstriping
contrastthanonslopesorareaswithalotof
trimmingandedging.
