Safety
Improperuseormaintenancebytheoperatororowner
canresultininjury.Toreducethepotentialforinjury,
complywiththesesafetyinstructionsandalwayspay
attentiontothesafetyalertsymbol,whichmeans
CAUTION,WARNING,orDANGER-"personalsafety
instruction."Failuretocomplywiththeinstructionmay
resultinpersonalinjuryordeath.
SafeOperatingPractices
BeforeOperating
•OwnersofthisAeratormustgiveoperatorsand
employeesfulloperationandsafetyinstructionsbefore
allowingthemtooperatethismachineandatleast
annuallythereafter.Anoperatorwhohasnotreadand
fullyunderstoodalloperatingandsafetyinstructionsis
notqualiedtooperatethismachine.Becomefamiliar
withallcontrolsandknowhowtostopquickly.
•Donotallowchildrentooperatethemachine.Donot
allowadultstooperatethemachinewithoutproper
instruction.
•Removealldebrisorotherobjectsthatmightinterfere
withoperation.Keepallbystandersawayfromthework
area.
•Locateandmarkallundergroundobstructionssuchas
irrigationcomponents,electricalortelephonelines.
•Makesuretractorisinneutralandparkingbrakeapplied
beforestarting.RefertoTractorOperator'sManualfor
safestartingprocedures.
•Ensurethatyourtractorissuitableforusewithan
implementofthisweightbycheckingwithyourtractor
supplierormanufacturer.
•Mountingtheaeratortotherearofthetractorwill
decreasetheweightonthetractorfrontaxle.Toassure
adequatesteeringcontrolandstabilityitmaybenecessary
toaddballasttothefrontofthetractor.RefertoTractor
Operator'sManualforballastrequirements.
•Keepallshieldsandsafetydevicesinplace.Ifashield,
safetydeviceordecalisdamaged,repairorreplaceit
beforeoperationiscommenced.Alsotightenanyloose
nuts,boltsandscrewstoensuremachineisinsafe
operatingcondition.
•Donotoperatemachinewhilewearingsandals,tennis
shoes,sneakersorshorts.Also,donotwearloosetting
clothingwhichcouldgetcaughtinmovingparts.Always
wearlongpantsandsubstantialshoes.Wearingsafety
glasses,safetyshoes,hearingprotectionandahelmetis
advisableandmayberequiredbysomelocalordinances
andinsuranceregulations.
WhileOperating
•Neveroperatethetractorinreversewhentheaeratoris
lowered.
•Keepallbystandersandpetsawayfromtheworkarea.
•Usingthemachinedemandsattention,andtoprevent
lossofcontrol:
–Useonlyindaylightorwhenthereisadequate
articiallight.
–Watchforholesorotherhiddenhazards.
–Donotoperatethemachineclosetoasandtrap,
ditch,creekorotherhazard.
–Reducespeedonsidehillsandbeforemakingsharp
turnstopreventtippingorlossofcontrol.
–Lookbehindtheaeratorbeforebackingup.
•Ifthetinesstrikeasolidobjectorthemachinevibrates
abnormally,disengagethePTO,settheparkingbrakeand
shuttheengineoff.Removekeyfromignitionswitch.
Checkaeratorandtractionunitfordamage.Repairany
damagebeforerestartingtheengineandoperatingthe
tines.Besuretinesareingoodconditionandallbolts
aretight.
•Beforeleavingmachineunattended,disengagepowerto
aerator,loweraeratorontostoragestandsandsetparking
brake.Stopengine.
•Neverdismountwhiletractorisinmotion.Nevergeton
orofftractorwhileengineisrunningandPTOdriveshaft
isengaged.NeverstepoverPTOshafttoreachother
sideofaerator-walkaroundthemachine.
•Whenliftingtheaerator,disengagethePTOwhenthe
rollerisapproximately5inchesfromtheground.
•Donotoperatethismachinewithouttherolleronthe
ground.Neveroperatewiththemachineintheraised
position.
•Parktheaeratoronahard,levelsurface,installtheaerator
storagestandsbeforedisconnectingfromtractor.
•Ifitisnecessarytoprobebelowthesoilsurface,usea
nonconductivematerialtopreventelectricalshockin
caseelectricalwiresarepresent.
•Alwayslowertheaeratortothegroundbeforeleavingthe
tractorunattended.Neverleavetheaeratorintheraised
positionwhenitisunattended.
Transporting
•Theaeratorisheavy.Whenattachedtoatractorandin
theraisedposition,itsweightwillaffectstability,braking
andsteering.Exercisecautionwhentransportingbetween
workingareas.
•Alwaysmaintainpropertractortirepressure.
•Besureyouareincompliancewithallregulationsbefore
transportingequipmentonthepublicroadsandhighways.
Makesureallrequiredreectorsandlightsareinplaceand
arecleanandvisiblebyovertakingandoncomingtrafc.
