Springsarebreakingornotpullingbackthe
headtonormalposition.
SlowthePTOspeedofthetractor.Thelongerandheavierthetines,thegreaterthe
centrifugalforceonthehead.Checkforcrossedorbrokenspringwires.
Holesareelongatedorpicking.
Adjusttheangleofthetineorchangethetractorgroundspeed.Makesurethat
theaeratorcanbeloweredatleast5cm(2inches)belowatgroundleveltoallow
forundulation.
Tinesarehittingthegroundwithanerratic
pattern.
•Checkforcrossedorbrokenspringwires.
•SlowthePTOspeedofthetractor.
PTOclutchslipsexcessively.
Adjusttinestoashallowerdepth.Reviewclutchadjustmentprocedure.Replace
PTOclutches.
Turfispullingupwithcoringtines.Shallow-rootedturfmayrequiresolidtinesthersttime.
Thesoilistoohardforfullpenetration.
Aerateatadepththatthemachinecanachieve,waterovernight,andthenincrease
thedepth.Repeatifnecessaryuntilsoilcanbeaeratedatdesireddepth.
Coringtinesarebreaking.Youaretryingtogettoomuchdepthforthesoilcondition.Seeaboveandaerateto
ashallowerdepth.
Tineswillnotstayinthehead.
Tightenthetineholderbolts;donotusejamnutsorimpactwrench.Iftheboltwillnot
holdthetine,replaceit.
Tinespullthesoilupwhenthemachineis
raised.
RaisethemachinepartofthewayoutofthesoilbeforedisengagingthePTO.
Themachinewillnotturn.
MakesurethePTO,driveshaftanddrivechainsareworkingproperly.
Thetractorhasdifcultyliftingtheaerator.Movetractorliftarms76.19mm(3”)to101.6mm(4”)closertotheaerator.Make
surethetractorhasthecapacitytolifttheaerator.
Thehydraulictoplinkcylinderisspongy.(It
“gives”andmovesinandoutashortspan
whenforceisapplied.
Airisinthecylinderorlinesandmustbebledout.
Machineisnoisyorknocking.
•Crankpinnuthasvibratedloose.
•Chainsaretooloose.
•Boltsonthebottomoftheframeattherearofthemainarmhavevibratedloose.
•Checkoillevelingearbox.
Thehydraulictoplinkcylindercannotbefully
retracted(PTOshaftjams).
ThePTOshaftistoolongforyourtractorandshouldbecuttothecorrectlength.
Thetractorisdifculttosteerwhenintransport.•Addweighttothefrontofthetractor.
•Checktirepressureandadjustasrequired.
