Subject: Hole quality concerns.
An incorrectly welded crank arm (Short Crank Assembly 66-4040 or Long Crank
Assembly 66-4030) may affect timing and be responsible for poor hole-quality.
The picture below will help identify a crank assembly that is made wrong. The timing
hole should be in a 90-degree position to the crank pins as shown. An incorrect crank
assembly should be replaced. Contact your local Toro distributor for assistance.
The setup of the machine can also contribute to hole-quality.
Set up items to check (procedures listed in Operator’s Manual):
1. Full engine speed is 3600 rpm.
2. Tire pressure is set to provide a level frame using the “T” shaped Height Gauge.
3. All 4 crank assemblies are timed (synchronized).
4. The coring head depth adjustment bolts are set at 11/16 inch (17.5 mm)
Operating Tip
